The founder and creative director Birna Karen Einarsdottir is born in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1972.
After traveling the world, Birna Karen settled down in Copenhagen, Denmark were she obtained her diploma in fashion design from the "Copenhagen School of Fashion and Design"
The brand, BIRNA, was established in 2002.

BIRNA is available in selective shops in Scandinavia and in Europe. In October 2005 BIRNA opened a Concept Shop in Copenhagen and in the fall of 2006 one in the center of Reykjavik. Here one can experience the whole of BIRNA where the collections are presented with exclusive pieces.
